Russells Place Restaurant in Oak Island

I’m not sure why people are giving this place any sort of negative review. Anyone that gives this place a negative review is clearly to picky to eat at a local diner. Everything about my experience was amazing. There was a short wait, however the place is on the smaller side and the parking lot was packed. (That to me says the place is good if people are willing to wait and the place can afford to only be open for breakfast and lunch until 2pm) Waiting was completely worth it. The food was piping hot and delicious. Clearly cooked fresh with real ingredients.

If I could I would ask for my money back . We had to wait for at least 20 minutes and only because they didn't want to clear off a table. Then we ended getting very small amounts of food. Oh and we had to share a table with another couple which ended up being the best part of the meal. When the girl asked for a milk she got it in cardboard container lol. Wow just wow

Excellent service. The food was great. There is always a wait to get into Russell's but that shows how popular it is. I ordered the Belgian Waffle with Strawberry and Whipped Cream and it came out perfect. Even in the off season we had to wait about 20 minutes to get a table for 2.

The food was really good and the service was quick. The eggs were cooked just right, the tomato and lettuce was fresh, and the whipped cream on pancakes was delicious. The servers were very friendly, too.

Stopped by here for lunch one day. Service was quick and friendly. Food was just average, somewhat diner style. Prices were VERY cheap, which was refreshing. If you’re looking for something quick and basic, this is the place to go.

This was a great place to eat on Oak Island in the service was excellent.

Good food, great staff, very affordable. I go here every time I go to ocean isle to fish. They are always able to tell me what is biting, what bait to use and where people have been catching the most fish. Awesome place.

We tried for months to get in here for breakfast, line was always wrapped around the building during the busy season so we knew it had to be good! We went this past weekend once things slowed down and breakfast was AMAZING. This is our new favorite breakfast spot. The prices are great and the food has that 'home cooked' taste. Portions are pretty large but they offer half sizes on many dishes. All staff are very friendly and have great suggestions. This is a "must try" for anyone visiting the Southport/Oak Island area.

Wonderful speedy service, friendly. Omelette and hash browns tasty and piping hot. Definitely recommend!! Bright, busy, on a drizzly Wed around 1:00pm

What's not to love? Russell's is always faithful to us for anything we'r want to eat. Love their breakfast!

Although they were busy we only had to wait for a couple of minutes. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Food was served quickly, my only regret was not getting pancakes! We will definitely be back

Not as good as it used to be. Hash browns tasted like leftovers. Maybe old oil, but not fresh. Ham in eggs was cut really big. Used to be a little smaller. Lots of new faces, so like everything else things change.

Russel’s Place is absolutely amazing! I wish I could give it 6 stars! The food is always delicious, the servers are polite and accommodating, and the atmosphere gives you a little home away from home while on vacation. My family visits OKI every year and the vacation is not complete without a trip (or 3) to Russel’s Place Restaurant!

Solid diner with decently friendly staff. A bit of waiting to place order which got frustrating. Prices are great. Decor is as expected with a small diner. Food was alright...French toast was bizarre and not good. I did enjoy the biscuit and gravy, though.

We love the atmosphere. Food and staff are wonderful. It's a very popular restaurant so be ready to wait during certain times. It will be worth the wait.

Waited way to long, to be seated in a tiny booth. The server was stuck up and service was terrible period, never refilled coffee, water? The food was bland, no flavor. My corned beef was straight out of the can. It was gross. Do not recommend l.

Dirty, bad service & slow. Was there before other people and was seated afterwards. Overall bad experience. Maybe a bad day? No atmosphere...and didn't realize it was at the beach after seating. Windows filthy from days before. Floor very dirty. No real lemon. Just bad.

Always good! Had the 1/2 pecan waffle and it was plenty! Pecans are plentiful in the waffle. Never have been disappointed in anything I've ordered.

The service was great, especially given that they were filled to capacity. All of us enjoyed our meals. My omelet, shared with my husband, was very good, and the potatoes crispy and tasty. Coffee hot and not bitter, like at so many restaurants.

Eat here everyday for breakfast while on vacation. Same staff for years. Food is home style and priced well. Tough to beat on the island

Okay if you don't have to wait too long. They should really consider expanding their dining area maybe to include some outdoor seating left of front where there is plenty of shade. The food was par but the service is fast and friendly. Oh and home fries do not equal hashbrowns, just an fyi.

Delicious! Very friendly and quick service! The best corned beef hash I have ever had. Ordered it crispy and I got it. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside! Can not wait to go again!

Very good experience here this morning. Very busy, but waitresses knew many by name and helped one another at the tables to ensure fast and friendly service. The biscuits are homemade, the bacon is crisp & the coffee is hot!

Didn't wait long to be seated. Service prompt. Coffee hot. Food great. What more do you need?

Great place for breakfast at the beach.

Not good food but great service and employees great

The staff and food is very good. ALWAYS have to ask for my coffee to be refilled or wave the coffee cup in the air. They fixed the place up a while ago, but should have completed it. The floor looks nasty and the front of the counter area needs work. The bathrooms are dark and dingy. BUT, the food and the staff are good.

Love this place, esp on Friday. That is Spaghetti Day
